This is a unique opportunity for students to join a professional Artist in co-designing a permanent piece of Public Art this summer in the Barbican area as part of a redevelopment.

Participants are invited to help contribute to the permanent cityscape and public realm and will hopefully be able to walk past this piece of public art for years to come and say, 'I helped to make that!'.

The programme includes:

  1. Site visits for young people to learn about their local history and heritage, including WWII bombings and post-war development of the City.

  2. An introduction to the history of philanthropy in the City and its public buildings.

  3. Professional insight into regeneration, change and building redevelopment with an introduction to the developers and curators involved in the project.

  4. Creative workshops alongside the professional Artist to design works to be put forward for an exhibition.

Key information:

  • Site visits and creative workshops will be between May and July 2025

  • Final works will be exhibited in March 2026.

  • Opportunity available to all 11 - 18 year olds.
