British Airways Inspire 2023/24 is the famous airline's amazing programme for young people with a variety of opportunities including work experience placements, insight days, student ambassadors, apprenticeship opportunities and Speedbird Pilot Academy. Applying for a Work Experience Insight Day


British Airways Work Experience Insight Days are aimed at students, either at school,

college, or university. Students must be willing to travel to our Head Office in Heathrow

for the Work Experience Insight Day.


To apply for a Work Experience Insight Day, students must be:


  • Year 10/S4 or above


  • Have a valid passport/UK driving licence (this is needed to access our engineering base and airside areas of Terminal 5 LHR)

Recruitment Process


Step 1: Explore which area of British Airways you’d like to gain an insight into (do your

research and speak to our Speedbird Z mentors!)


Step 2: Complete an online application which you can find the link to on Speedbird Z


Step 3: We will review all applications for eligibility, let you know via email if you have

been successful and confirm next steps

Speedbird Pilot Academy


Make your flying dreams come true!


Further to the success of our previous cadet schemes, we are thrilled to announce its successor the launch of the Speedbird Pilot Academy.

This is a BA fully funded training scheme for up to 70 successful candidates working with selected Flight Training Schools.


We will be open for applications in September 2023 please register for 'Pilots’ job alerts on the career site here British Airways Future Pilots (ba.com) to be notified of when the application window will open.


In the coming months our Pilot Recruitment Team will be running live Q&A sessions for students and details can be found here:

Calling all aspiring pilots! Our British Airways Pilot Recruitment team will be running monthly virtual ‘drop in’ sessions to answer all of your pilot career and training questions. The sessions will be informal teams calls, giving you the opportunity to find out more about the different routes to becoming a pilot.
