Quantum in the Summer School at University of Bristol (supported by In2careers)


Get ready to dive into the fascinating world of quantum mechanics and light at the upcoming Quantum in the Summer School at University of Bristol, running from 29th July - 2nd August 2024.


This immersive experience brings together students for a week of exploration and discovery as you learn about quantum mechanics and light. From hands-on lab experiments to captivating lectures, you'll uncover the secrets of classical optics, quantum computing, and more.

This is also an exciting opportunity to expand your network, mingle with fellow science enthusiasts during evening socials and experience being in a university setting!


This year there are 2 places reserved exclusively for In2careers participants, and at least one of these places will be full funded/all expenses paid. In2careers is a free online platform available to anyone who is from a disadvantaged background and meets our eligibility criteria. In order to apply, you will need to join the In2careers platform.

 

Requirements

In order to qualify for In2careers, and apply for one of the exclusive places, you must be aged 16 or over and be able to answer yes to at least one of the following questions:

  • Are you or have you been a recipient of Free School Meals in Year 11, or at sixth form?

  • Are you a current recipient of an EMA, Pupil Premium or the 16-19 Bursary?

  • Do you have parents or guardians who do not have a higher education degree?

  • Do you or have you had experience with care, been in care, or caring responsibilities?

  • Do you live in a POLAR Q1 or Q2 area?

To be considered for the Quantum in the Summer Programme, you must:

  • be available to attend the full week

  • be over 16 years of age by the start of the summer school

  • Have completed the first year of your A-level studies (or equivalent) by the start of the summer school

  • be currently studying Maths and Physics at A-level (or equivalent)

  • have completed your GCSEs (or equivalent) by the start of the summer school

  • have a strong mathematical ability

  • have a keen interest in Physics and associated subjects
