The Art Summer School is for students aged 16-18 in sixth-from or college who want to experience what it might be like to study Art at university level. The programme offers a fun and supportive space to develop your creative talents, discover new passions, collaborate with other young people and get a sense if art school is the place for you.
As a student on this programme, you will participate in a range of exciting activities and experiences, such as:
Explore and learn with other young people.
Participate in workshops with support from artists who are specialists in different medium, i.e, photography, textiles, drawing and printing.
Have access to a shared studio space that gives you the freedom to experiment with different art forms.
Meet established artists who will share their experience with you.
Visit exhibitions at London galleries as well as artists’ studios.
1:1 mentoring and guidance from Goldsmiths Art Tutors to help realise the creative projects that matter to you.
Create new art works that express themes that matter to you in your chosen medium.
Create and host an exhibition at Goldsmiths to celebrate your achievements and the summer school week.
Art Summer School participants who apply to Goldsmiths and who meet the minimum entry requirements will also receive a guaranteed interview for BA Fine Art and BA Fine Art & History of Art programmes. Please check these on the Goldsmiths website.
Eligibility Criteria:
Currently attending a state-funded sixth form or college in the UK (year 12 or 13).
Between 16 and 18 years old.
Studying a creative subject (such as: Art, Textiles, Product Design, Design Technology, Photography, Performance, etc.)
Living within commutable distance to Goldsmiths (or be able to make your own accommodation arrangements)
Key information:
It is completely free and is non-residential.
Location: Goldsmiths University of London Campus, SE14 6NW.
Start Date: 29th July 2024 - 9th August 2024 (excluding weekends).
